Mirror Lake on Yellowstone's Mirror Plateau remains one of the park's most remote locations, almost four miles from an established trail and more than 12 miles from the nearest trailhead in Lamar Valley. First called Divide Lake for its location on the divide between the Yellowstone and Lamar rivers, it was re-named Mirror Lake in 1878 for its propensity to reflect its surroundings.
