Targhee backcountry gates

Grand Targhee Resort general manager Geordie Gillette talkes about the resort's new backcountry gates from the summit of Peaked Mountain earlier this month. Gillett said the gate at the summit of Peaked will not be accessible from the top of the new Colter Lift, which drops off skiers only a couple hundred feet from the top of the mountain. Instead, the gate will need to be accessed by hiking the east ridge of Peaked Mountain, a significant committment for those looking to ski the backcountry south of the resort boundary.
