This is Caitlin Shea, a family nurse practitioner in Jackson. She took my blood for a COVID-19 antibody test today. I made noticed the cracks in her face shield, asked how long she’d been using it. “Since the beginning,” she said, added that the only reason she keeps using it was to double-up on the N95 mask she’s been using for several weeks. Friday we will have a flyover of a couple C-130s as a gesture of support for these heros, however a friend of mine — who is also in the medical field — recently posted on Facebook, “There is no better metaphor for how this country is failing than billion-dollar fighter jet overflights to celebrate the health care workers who can't get a goddamn $3 mask to avoid Covid.”
